Despite its slim 4hp size, the A-142-3 is surprisingly flexible, featuring two switches that allow you to configure the device as an AR envelope with sustain capability, a one-shot AD envelope without sustain, or even a cycling LFO. Onboard the panel you get manual controls for both the Attack and Release\/Decay stage lengths, as well as a manual level control for the VCA input. Simply apply your oscillator or any other audio signal to the input, patch in a Gate source, and you've got a full voice set-up in an ultra-small form factor. Also included in the module is a manual gate button for triggering the envelope by hand, as well as a dedicated envelope output for routing the modulation shape to another parameter in your patch, for example to the cutoff control on a filter module for organic sounds that change in timbre as they decay. Finally, a separate CV input is available for directly controlling the VCA, replacing the internal envelope with any signal you patch into it. Additional configuration options for stage time lengths, mixing multiple units, and LFO ranges are available using jumpers on the back of the module.
