Carbon 8M from Modal Electronics is a desktop version of the powerful Carbon 8 Experimental Synthesizer, providing eight voices of versatile tools for crafting unique tones from organic to otherworldly. In a compact form factor fit for any studio desk or rackmounted set-up, the Carbon 8M offers the same depth in sound design as its keyed counterpart. Surf between diverse timbral domains with the two oscillators of Carbon 8M, each with fifty-six selectable cores, which generate eighteen algorithmic engines or thirty-eight wavetables.
This vast sonic territory can be further expanded with XCore Oscillator Modifiers, inviting the tumultuous tones of phase distortion, wavefolding, and waveshaping, or tamed into sweetness with the expansive filter modeling section. All the while, a generous dose of modulation is available from three LFOs and three envelope generators, making sounds move with life and nuance. Go even deeper to sculpt musical gestures and motifs using the onboard, 512-note step sequencer, four automation lanes, and formidable arpeggiator, creating expressive performances with ease on stage or in the studio. With support for MPE MIDI, Carbon 8M provides a uniquely expressive synth engine to explore with an MPE controller.
