For those seeking to plumb the depths of unexplored sonic territory, ASM's Leviasynth Desktop is a toolbox of mythic proportion. At its core, the Leviasynth is a polyphonic, sixteen-voice algorithmic hybrid synthesizer. Each voice offers eight independent oscillators, which can be arranged and rearranged to affect each other differently. These arrangements of oscillators are what ASM calls "algorithms" which can interact with one another linearly, or be morphed between non-linearly. These algorithms can be arranged in whatever way you see fit, but if you're in need of some instant-inspiration, ASM have provided 144 algorithm presets for a wide swath of potential timbral configurations.
There are over 300 waveforms available for each voice's one-of-eight oscillator slots, giving you a mind-boggling amount of possible timbres to sculpt to your heart's content. One of the many sculpting tools available in the Leviasynth is the open-ended 32-slot modulation matrix. Control nearly every parameter using a variety of control sources to create complex movement and transformations in your sound. Each of the eight oscillators includes its own volume envelope, along with five additional shared envelopes and five LFOs per-voice, giving you an otherworldly amount of sonic possibilities. The oscillators themselves contain numerous parameters that can be affected by these control sources: Frequency Modulation, Phase Modulation, Pulse Width Modulation, HTE Sync, and Phase Distortion can all be applied to create a vast spectrum of sonic coloration.
The desktop version of the Leviasynth provides sixteen velocity-sensitive, MPE compatible, polyphonic aftertouch-ready pads for maximum expressive potential. Control a plethora of parameters at a time across the synth with the eight individual macro controls, which provide a deep level of expressivity given the timbral potential of Leviasynth's multi-algorithmic nature. Record and play back your performances with the internal three-track sequencer, which allows you to capture note, arpeggio, and macro automation data. The Leviasynth even plays well with Eurorack systems, providing dedicated 3.5mm I/O for seamlessly weaving control voltage across your patches. The two assignable Mod inputs offer a spectrum of different ways to use external voltage to affect your sounds, while the Pitch, Gate, Clock, and two assignable Mod outputs stretch the invisible hands of the Leviasynth out into the CV inputs your unsuspecting modules.
Sculpt your creations even further with Leviasynth's collection of powerful analog and digital filters. Leviasynth provides a set of beautiful-sounding four-pole analog low pass filters for wrapping your sounds in the warm embrace that only an analog low pass can. The digital filter is a Hydrasynth-style multimode filter with eighteen different filter types. All of these filters can self-oscillate, along with pre-drive saturation for helping your patches cut through a dense mix. The effects section provides two independent engines for giving your sounds an even greater sense of space and depth. The first engine is the master effects section, which consist of Delay, Reverb, Distortion, Rotary, Phaser, Chorus, Compression, EQ and more. The second is a dedicated insert effects engine, which offers five flavors of Delay and four Reverbs for giving your sounds deep dimensionality. This two-layered approach to effects gives the Leviasynth a sound all its own, and when used in tandem with the aforementioned suite of timbral shaping possibilities, your imagination is the only limit. If your run-of-the-mill synthesizer just doesn't go deep enough into the murky waters of sound exploration for you, the Leviasynth from ASM is a beautiful and robust instrument sure to leave you immersed in a sea of creative possibilities.
